The study examines the link between the profile of job seekers in Abidjan and their coping strategies. The profile takes into account the age, the marital status, the diploma obtained, and the employment situation. 100 job seekers, including 53 men and 47 women, aged 21 and over, participated in the survey. They were subjected to an identification questionnaire and the Toulousaine Scale of Coping to test their coping strategies. The results indicate a link between aspects of the profile of job seekers (including age, degree, employment status) and their coping strategies. These results suggest that coping strategies can be skills or assets in the job search according to the profile of the unemployed. The study therefore argues in favor of taking care of the unemployed through psychological counseling to job search that incorporates adjustment strategies.
Keywords: profile, coping strategies, jobseeker, unemployment, first job.
