Université Catholique de Bukavu (UCB)

The Catholic University of Bukavu (UCB) was created by the decree of 21 November 1989 of His Excellency Aloys Mulindwa Mutabesha, Archbishop of Bukavu, decree according to the Code of Canon Law, in its canons 807 to 814, and the Apostolic Constitution Ex corde Ecclesiae of 15 August 1990 on Catholic Universities and Higher Institutes.

The UCB was actually opened on November 15, 1990. It operated on the basis of Order No. ESURS / CABMIN / 1231/91 of the Ministry of Higher and University Education and Scientific Research.

Orders Nos. ESURS / CABMIN / 0313/92 and ESURS / CABMIN / A5 / 175/95 approved and recognized the diplomas issued by the Catholic University of Bukavu.

The final approval was granted by Presidential Decree No. 06/106 of 12 June 2006.
