National Students
All national applicants intending to join the University must have
passed ‘A’ Level (two principal passes) to join the undergraduate
programmes. To enroll for the postgraduate programmes one needs to
have a first degree from a recognised institution. For the diploma
programmes, one should have at least passed ‘O’ Level
with some working experience. Inquiries can be made from the Registrar’s
Office.
International Students
The university welcomes international applicants. Our international
community is comprised of students from Austria, Burundi, Congo, Ethiopia,
Ghana, Italy, Ivory Coast, Kenya, The Netherlands, Nigeria, Rwanda, Slovenia,
South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, the United States of America and Zambia.
You will, therefore, join a community of African University students
with a diverse cultural experience. For more information about the

Exchange Students
Through collaborations with other Universities, UMU admits exchange
students to study for a period, usually one semester to one full academic
year. Arrangements for the exchange are made with the respective department
and the Registrar’s Office. Universities with such collaborations
include: Katholieke Universitiet
Nijmegen in the Netherlands, Johannes
Kepler University, Linz in Austria, St.
Thomas University in the USA. Arrangements with other Universities
such as Notre Dame
in the USA are being finalised.
Research
Students
Many University students living outside Sub-Saharan Africa
are interested to get a first-hand experience of the developing
world. UMU, therefore, offers them an opportunity to conduct
effective research. From UMU, you can be allocated a local
supervisor and while maintaining effective communication with
your supervisor from your University through the IT infrastructure.
Admission Policy
While providing a quality higher education, within which Christian
and human values are priorities, the University upholds its Catholic
