"TEACHING AND LEARNING IN

A CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY"

EDUCATING AND TRAINING

IFCU GENERAL ASSEMBLY

JULY 23-27, 2012

S
ÃO PAULO

Every three years, the International Federation of Catholic Universities holds its General Assembly. After having taken us to Rome, to the Pontificia Università Gregoriana, the 24th IFCU General Assembly will take us to Latin America, where it will be hosted by the Fundação Educacional Inaciana "Padre Sabóia de Medeiros" in São Paulo (Brazil).

This event represents a unique opportunity for all our affiliates to meet to reflect on a university and ecclesial theme. Hence, the topic of our next meeting, which was chosen by the representatives of our universities at the Rome Assembly, will be: «Teaching and Learning in a Catholic University. Educating and Training».

For five days we shall analyse the challenges faced by the universities, and more specifically the Catholic universities, in the different contexts in which they are embedded.

Teaching, research and service to society and to the Church are the three principal functions of the Catholic University. The topics we are invited to reflect upon at this international meeting in 2012 are teaching and learning as immediate tasks of our institutions which have training, personal change and social change as their horizons.

«Teaching and learning» are thus placed in the humanist and Christian perspective of building a more just and human world.

The academic content of our meeting is extremely rich, pertinent and engaging for the life of our institutions.

A WEBSITE DEDICATED TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The Pre-Programme along with the forms concerning your registration and an information sheet containing the modalities of your hotel reservation are available on a website especially dedicated to the 24th IFCU General Assembly. It also contains all the practical information that you will need to organise your stay in Brazil. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that in order to benefit from the negotiated rates for hotel reservations, these must be made directly, via the website, to the Official Travel Agency of the General Assembly. With regard to accommodation in Religious Houses, reservations must be made directly to these latter. You will also find all the contact details on the Assembly’s Internet website in the Transport and Accommodation section and we inform you that the number of rooms available is limited to 15 in each of the two Religious Houses.

For organisational reasons, we ask you to confirm your presence in São Paulo as soon as possible, by sending the registration form and the information sheet to the IFCU Secretariat in Paris.

We would also like to draw your attention to the procedure for obtaining visas and invite you to check with the Brazilian Consulate or Embassy in your country if a visa is necessary in your case (the visa should be issued in your country of origin). If this document is required, participants are invited to contact the IFCU Secretariat as soon as possible so that we can send you an official letter of invitation signed by the administrative authorities of the host University.
