Regional Associations: Subdivisions of the World

The IFCU’s members are also active on the various continents where they are located.  Obvious cultural and geographical ties lay the foundations for regional groups, which seek to enhance the efficiency of the Catholic universities’ missions throughout the world.

They include members from the major regions of the world. The Federation of European Catholic Universities (FUCE), made up exclusively of the European member universities of the IFCU is one example. Other initiatives exist in Africa with the Association of Catholic Universities and Institutes of Africa and Madagascar (ACUIAM), in Asia with the Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities (ASEACCU), and in Latin America with the Organization of Catholic Universities in Latin America (ODUCAL). The Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities (ACCU) in North America and the Xavier Board of Higher Education, located in India, also typify this sort of organization. They include institution members and work together in partnerships which seek to meet the specific needs in the various regions by using the Federation’s principles as guidelines.
