FUCE Academic Exchange Network

Student exchange network
In 1999, the international relations managers of the FUCE decided to establish a student exchange network, in order to create a free movement of FUCE students among the member universities: the FUCE Academic Exchange Network. Every FUCE member can adhere to the network by sending a letter of adherence, indicating in which areas the university would like to exchange students, the number of students and the number of students months. The network was set up independently from Socrates, but it also is a Socrates network: The FUCE network uses the funds that are available, eg Socrates funding where possible.
It is possible to adhere to this network at any moment, but it depends on the Socrates National Agency if or when a member can use the Socrates money for student exchange. Institutions not being eligible for Socrates funding are invited to adhere.
All FUCE universities who would like to adhere to this network should contact the secretariat of FUCE, which will send you the letter of adherence or you can download the letter in pdf format. Once you have filled in the details you can send it back and your university will be added to the list on the web page of the FUCE.

Procedures to adhere
1. How to adhere to the network?
Fill in the first part of the "letter of adherence". Than, cancel all the subject areas not available in your institution, indicate the number of students to be exchanged with the network (this is the total sum of all subject areas!), have the form signed and send it to the FUCE secretariate (the address is mentioned on the form).
2. How to integrate the information into the Socrates application?
Make sure that there is some kind of student flow in all given subject areas and to all countries in which institutions of FUCE are located. In this way it is possible to use Socrates money for students leaving for FUCE institutions.
3. How to prove that you have a contract?

  • Keep your letter of adherence
  • Ask the FUCE secretariate for a complete list of adhering institutions or print it out from the web.

Although there might be differing procedures in different countries, keep in mind that network agreements are foreseen inside Socrates. The form of the agreement is free. The above mentioned documents should do. In case of doubt, please contact your partner to whom you will send students and ask if they will send a fax of acceptance referring to the mutual membership in FUCE Academic Exchange Network.
