FUCE General Assembly, May 2010

The 2010 GA was hosted by the Catholic University of Ukraine. The subject was : How do catholic universities promote the humanization of society through their teaching, research and service missions ?

FUCE General Assembly, May 2009

The 2009 GA was hosted by the Catholic University of Portugal. The subject of the debates was : "New behaviors of the students: questionings and challenges for our catholic universities".

FUCE General Assembly, May 2008
The GA was hosted by Università Urbaniana, in Rome. The subject was "human environment in our universities : how could universities propose new ways of structuring human relations through teaching, research, governance and university life ?"

FUCE General Assembly, May 2007
The 2007 General Assembly was hosted by the University of Namur.  During this meeting, rectors of the members of FUCE took the time of reflexion about the following subject : "What is the place of the human sciences, interdisciplinarity and questions of meaning in our university programmes?".

FUCE Colloquium
The Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest hosted the FUCE colloquium on "Globalisation and European Society - Contribution of the Catholic Universities to an Ethical Answer" on April 19-20, 2001.

The conference was open to both public and private universities and institutions of higher education as well as govenments, ngo's and other institutions.
 

Rectors' conference of the FUCE
The last rector's conference of the FUCE took place on May 9-10 2003 at the Uniwersytet Kardynala Stefana Wyszynskiego in Warsaw, Poland. In May 2004, the Katholische Universität Eichstätt will host the meeting.

International Relations Managers
The International Relations Managers of the member universities met at the Pontificia Università Lateranense, Rome, Italy on January 10th, 2003. They discussed the implementation of the Bologna proces (developments, problems, challenges), student participation in the FUCE networks, cooperation with Africa and Central and Eastern Europe and the student exchange programme.

The next meeting of the international relations managers will take place at the Institut Catholique de Paris, January 2004.

Africa
At the Rectors' assembly in Lisbon in April 1999, the Rectors decided to set up a FUCE committee for relations with the African Catholic universities. They hope that this will reinforce and develop cooperation with these universities. The members of the committee are:
 

  • Universidad San Pablo CEU (Spain)
  • Facultés universitaires "Notre Dame de la Paix" (Belgium)
  • Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Lisboa)
  • Université catholique de l'Ouest (France)
  • Universitaire Faculteiten Sint Ignatius (Belgium)
  • Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen (The Netherlands)

The committee gives priority to the use of electronic means of communication in general and Internet in particular to enable the African universities to communicate amongst themselves and with FUCE. This will also incite African and European researchers to work in close collaboration, especially in the realm of publications.

Central and Eastern Europe
The FUCE committee for Central and Eastern Europe met in Eichstätt (Germany) on 14 and 15 January 2000. It discussed cooperation between the Catholic universities of Central, Eastern and Western Europe in the field of research and study projects, as well as the theme of the FUCE colloquium which was held at the "Pazmany Péter Catholic University" (Hungary) during the Rectors' Assembly in 2001.

Addresses of Holy Father at the World Meeting of University Professors
The world meeting of university professors took place from the 3rd to the 10th September 2000 in Rome. The theme of this event was: the university for a new humanism. At the same time related events were organised: world meeting of university rectors and presidents, world meeting of university managers, world forum of students and the world meeting of university chaplains.
