Rev. Dr. Johnson Xavier Palakkappillil, usually addressed as Fr. Prasant. A priest of the order of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI) of the Syro Malabar Church.

By training a professional social worker, from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and a Ph. D in Social Work from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Keralam.

Worked as faculty of Social Work - Community Development at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, heading the school from 2007 to 2010. From 1997 to 2010 held various responsibilities such as Coordinator of Extension, National Service Programme Coordinator, Financial Controller etc.

Had been a visiting faculty at University of Maryland, School of Social Work - Baltimore (2001) and School of Social Work - Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, USA (2005).

Involved in movements related to environment education and green campaigns, focuses on Natural Resource Management and Waste Management, promoting Organic Farming. Specialised in field practice in Social Work Training.

• General Secretary of International Council on Social Welfare - Kerala State Branch from 2007 to 2011, and National Joint Secretary of the same from 2012-2016.

• Co-Founder - Youth Training Forum - yuvanirmiti

• General Secretary - KRIPA - Kerala Rehabilitation Institute for Physically Affected & Chairman - Sahrudaya Services and Charities (2002-2005).

• Founder General Secretary of ASSK - Association of Schools of Social Work, Keralam (2007-2009)

• President of Kerala Association of Professional Social Workers (KAPS) - since 2016.

• Member of the National Executive Board of Xavier Board of Higher Education in India and AIACHE - All India Association of Christian Higher Education.

• President - Organic Kerala Charitable Trust (since 2012)

• Principal of Sacred Heart College (autonomous), Kochi since 2010.
