San Dámaso University (USD) is an ecclesiastical university erected by the Holy See in the Archdiocese of Madrid (Spain). It teaches formation in Philosophy, Theology, Christian and Classical Literature, Canon Law and Religious Sciences with official validity in all universities. His name is taken from the Pope of Hispanic origin San Damaso I.
It is located on Calle Jerte, in the center of Madrid, next to the famous Basilica of San Francisco el Grande and next to the Conciliar Seminary of Madrid, 1 where the library and the Faculty of Classical and Christian Letters are located .
Under the motto « Veritatis Verbum communicantes », the University carries out a task of formation of aspirants to the priesthood or other forms of consecrated life, although it is open to anyone who wants to deepen scientifically and with rigor in the Catholic faith. In addition, he actively collaborates in different educational programs of the Archdiocese of Madrid, such as the permanent formation of priests and the School of pastoral agents.
In the University you can obtain the Ecclesiastical Declaration of Academic Competence, abbreviated as DECA, which allows teaching religion in schools and institutes. It is taught both face-to-face and online and remotely thanks to new internet technologies.
