FUTURE OF WORK TREND TRACKING MAY 2019

Will AI eliminate university jobs too? In a survey of over 100 experts in academia and industry conducted by Times Higher Education, a majority of respondents (56%) say that they do not foresee administrative job losses due to AI in universities over the next 10 to 15 years. The prospect of teaching jobs lost to AI, with automated grading programs and robot teaching assistants already a reality on campus and on line, is also vastly rejected (70%). However, 95% of respondents believe that AI will have a substantial impact in the same period on how research is conducted. The THE-Microsoft survey on AI, and Experts doubt AI impact on jobs, Times Higher Education, 28 March 2019.
