The word « vicissitudes » can easily refer to any kind of problems encountered within the family or around them. This is why the range of objects of study in this issue, addressed by the Institutes of our network, is very broad and has allowed a great freedom of choice. The list of themes is therefore necessarily heterogeneous but with one thing in common: to show that family life is not a long calm river. The studies then focused on:

• Divorce and kinship, especially in single-parent families.

• The economic crisis and the forced return of young adults to their homes of origin.

• Some good practices of support for the elderly, from an intergenerational perspective.

• The early strengthening of attachment links between parents and children aged 1 to 6 in fragile families.

• The impact of the French Revolution on the family, in a Périgord village, with the new rules of succession.

• The break and continuity of family ties in the migration context and their positive impact on the economy of the country of origin.

• How to build bridges between therapeutic practices and research in therapy, without falling into reductionism.

• Address, without false evasion, the vicissitudes of French law of the family, with the growing influence of the notions of equality and freedom.
