BRIEF HSTORY
Created by the late Archbishop of Bukavu (Monseigneur) Aloys Mulindwa Mutabesha
M.M.M., on 21st November 1989, L'Universite Catholique de Bukavu (UCB)
is a private institution of higher education. UCB started on the
15th November 1990 and obtained permission to function from the Ministry
of Education and Scientific Research. The motto of UCB is, "Super lacus
ac montes splendens".
OBJECTIVES OF UCB
The objectives, also defined in the statutes, take into account the UCB
mission in its environment. These are as follows:
- To organise science and technology for higher education
and carry out research and publications of scientific studies in collaboration
with other education and research institutes at a local level as well
international level.
- To contribute to the development of the province and
country by making available its expertise.
LOCATION OF UCB
L'Universite Catholique de Bukavu (UCB), is located in the province
of South - Kivu in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
FACULTIES AT L'UNIVERSITE CATHOLIQUE DE BUKAVU
UCB has the following faculties: The Faculty of Economics, The Faculty
of Medicine, The Faculty of Law, and The Faculty of Agronomy.

The above faculties offer the following courses: Bachelor of Economics
(Financial Management), Bachelor of Economics (Rural Economy), Doctor
of Medicine and Surgery, Bachelor of Law (Private Law, Public Law, Judicial
Law), Bachelor Engineering.
