Policies Regarding Student Conduct and Behaviour
The Catholic University College of Ghana seeks to produce graduates who are of good morals and personal integrity, who will be leaders in their communities, and who will be qualified to contribute to the future development of Ghana. As a Catholic institution it emphasizes moral standards and a personal commitment to serve society. Students in turn are encouraged to foster a spirit of honesty, respect and service and to live these values during their time at the University.
Only student who are enrolled in the Catholic University College of Ghana and others who are authorized are entitled to use the facilities and properties of the University, including the library and computer laboratory. library books especially must be cared for and respected and normally will no the withdrawn for use outside the library and other designated study/reading areas. When on the University grounds, students are expected to carry with them their student identifications cards.
The general laws of Ghana apply to all persons in the University. Thus the use of prohibited drugs and engagement in other illegal activities are not condoned. Other activities which are prohibited and which are subject to sanction are the following:
Defacement and /or intentional damage to University goods and property;
Every type of fraudulent activity such as cheating in examinations and plagiarism in the performance of academic work;
Lack of respect for University personal;
Engagement in political activity that may prejudice the good name of the University.
Disciplinary sanctions will be imposed as warranted, according to the nature of the infraction and the competency of the University:
Illegal activities will be reported to the appropriate public authorities, with suspension or expulsion from the University, depending on the seriousness of the offence;
Fraud and plagiarism may result in suspension or expulsion, depending on the seriousness of the offence and the judgment of the proper university authority.
The Disciplinary Committee of the University will review the case of a student charged with an infraction of University regulations and impose sanctions as warranted. A student not satisfied with the decision of the Disciplinary Committee may appeal to the University President, who will make the final decision on the matter.
Relationships between University staff members and students are to be marked by professionalism, cooperation and respect. Inappropriate behaviour on the part of University staff members in their relationships to students will be grounds for sanctions by University authorities, corresponding to the grounds for sanctions by University authorities, corresponding to the seriousness of the offence
