Admission

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

General Requirements

Student seeking admission to the Bachelor’s Degree Programmes of the Catholic University College of Ghana must have a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC) with a maximum of twenty four (24) points and passes in six (6) subjects, including passes in English, Mathematics and either intergrated Sciences or Social Studies.  Applicants who have completed the G.C.E must have “O” level passes at credit in five (5) subjects including English and Mathematics as well as in Arts and Science subjects and “A” level passes in two subjects as well as the general paper.

 Additional Faculty Requirements

Students applying to the Faculties of either Information and Communication Sciences and Technology or Economics and Business Administration must also have a pass of at least a “C” in elective Mathematics.

 Provisional Entry. The Admissions Committee may consider applicants with total points above twenty-four (24) on a case-by-case basis, to enable and encourage a diversified enrolment from regions across Ghana.  The Admission Committee may consider applicants who are awaiting the results of SSSC examinations and have good recommendations from their secondary school, but successful applicants in this group will matriculate only when they satisfy the normal requirememts.

Application and Registration Procedures

Applicants will submit their completed applications forms on or before the date indicated and list their choice of Faculty. The Admissions Committee will review the list of applicants and determine the final selection. The Admission Committee will respect the preference of applicants as much as possible, but may assign applicants to another Faculty on the basis of their second or third preference. The Admissions committee will inform the successful applicants, who will then proceed to register. A non-refundable deposit of five hundred thousand (500,000) cedis will be paid at time of acceptance.

Tuition and Other Fees

Full time students for this academic year will complete their registration with the payment of tuition fees of Cedis 12,000,000 (twelve million) for the full year or Cedis 6,000,000 (six million) for each semester. Tuition fees must be paid in full at the time of registration, either for the entire year at the beginning of the first semester or for the semester at the beginning of each semester. Students who have not paid tuition fees within two (2) weeks of the first day of classes of each semester are not considered registered and will be permitted to attend classes only on special arrangements in writing with University Administration.In addition to tuition fees, students will be assessed modest fees for accommodation, medical examination, sports and games, examinations, and the SRC (Student Representative Council). This year these special fees are as follows:

Hostel Fees: Cedis 600,000 per semester (for students in University supervised housing)

Hostel Water&Electricity Deposit:  Cedis 250,000 semester (students in hostels)

Hostel Damage Deposit: Cedis 50,000 (students in hostels)

Medical examination:   Cedis 150,000 (first year students only)

SRC Dues:  Cedis 30,00

Library fees:    Cedis 10,000

Matriculation fees:  Cedis 40,000 (first year & other matriculants)

Student ID card: Cedis 30, (first year students only)

Sports and games:  Cedis 50,000

Examination fees:  Cedis 90,000 per semester (Cedis 15,000 per paper)

These fees include the use of the computer laboratory but not photocopying printing. Students who damage or lose books or other University property will pay to replace or repair the damaged or lost property.  Students in hostels will pay a deposit of Cedis 500,000 (five hundred thousand) for the year to cover cost of Utilities, estimated at slightly more than Cedis 30,000 per month for water and Cedis 30,000 per month for electricity. If charges for utilities at the end of a semester exceed this amount, students will pay the excess; if charges are less, students will be credited with refund.Non-Ghanaian students will tuition fees of USDollars two thousand ($2000. 00). Part time and night school students pay tuition fees according to the number of credit units in which they are enrolled, on the basis of Cedis 400,000 per credit unit.
